“Lives of Sacrifice

There are uniqueness’s and commonalities amidst the legacies of lives sacrificed suddenly in military service and the day-to-day lives of faithful Christians who have “gone on” to glory. Both situations beckon us to honor their selfless heroic sacrifices.

Every May on Memorial Day we somberly recall those who have been torn from the loving presence of family and comrades by the mayhem of war and conflict. In addition, some die tragically in training or peace time missions. Throughout the 250 years of our country’s existence men and women have volunteered and been selected for military service. These individuals have risen to the daunting challenges of defending our ideals and beliefs. By doing so our documental inalienable rights and codified freedoms have endured, doing so with a full commitment to honorable serve even unto death thus making the ultimate sacrifice. Such heroism qualifies those who so serve and particularly the fallen to perpetually be recollected individually and collectively be a grateful nation.

In a similar but distinct way the multitudes of Christians, disciples of Jesus Christ, that have persevered in sacrificial Spirit filled lives of service walk a long road of obedience as humble workers in the Kingdom of God.  Without acclaim or a hunger for accolades these work-a-day “saints” joyfully toil to help others inside and outside of a myriad of congregations dotted among the geographic boundaries of our blessed nation. They also are volunteers and called (selected) for works even unto death that perpetuate the truths of scripture unto the presentation of the Gospel for the benefit (salvation) of others.

This May, as the Spring of 2026 fully bursts upon us let all who believe in this God inspired experiment in governance called the United States of America re-dedicate ourselves to the work at hand, both in preserving the Gift to the world that is our nation and the Christian foundation that reaches out to all with the saving message of salvation in Jesus Christ.  This is our life’s work in our homes, communities and churches. There is no cause more noble, more urgent and vital for each of us to expend our moment, days and years.
